How Do You Create CEREC Crowns In One Visit?

When a patient comes to us with a damaged tooth, or one plagued with severe decay or infection, a restoration is often needed. At one time, placing a crown required between two and three visits. However, with CEREC we can place a custom-made crown in a single visit.

Frequently Asked Questions About One-Visit CEREC Crowns

Question: How do you create them?

Answer: We begin by preparing the tooth that will receive the crown. We remove a small amount of tooth structure. Afterward, we take detailed digital impressions of the tooth using an intraoral camera. Once complete, we use the images to create a 3D model of the tooth, allowing us to design the restoration. We load the design into the CEREC machine, which then creates the completed restoration from a solid block of ceramic.

Question: Will they look natural?

Answer: Yes! Ceramic is a lifelike material that can be shaded to blend with the smile and mimic the translucent nature of tooth enamel. Once in place, the completed dental crown will match the rest of your smile.

Question: What problems can you fix with a CEREC crown?

Answer: We can place them to repair chipped, cracked, or even broken teeth. We can lengthen worn down teeth, help close gaps between teeth, and repair advanced decay. We can restore infected teeth or complete a single tooth dental implant. We can also anchor a dental bridge in place.

Question: How do I keep my restorations strong?

Answer: You simply take proper care of your smile, which means brushing twice a day and flossing every night before bed. We also suggest seeing us every six months for a checkup and a dental cleaning. Routine care helps keep the smile healthy and safeguard against issues that could threaten the new restoration, such as infection or periodontal disease.
